At Retter Workwear, we believe that the fabric is the main point where the quality comes from. We carry out fabric inspections in detail for every healthcare lab coat, industrial uniform, and flame-resistant (FR) coverall that we make. Our seven-step Fabric Checking Process ensures that every fabric roll meets the safety standards of the world such as NFPA, ISO, and OEKO-TEX. By maintaining consistent quality at the fabric level, we are able to assure that the end product of clothing delivers comfort, durability, and excellent safety.
Our fabric inspection minimizes risks of garment failure and ensures compliance with global safety regulations.

Visually, each fabric roll is scrutinized by us to confirm that the hues remain consistent, the material is without any surface faults and the weave is proper.

We conduct tests on fabric shrinkage and stretch resistance under heat and washing conditions. This is extremely important for FR coveralls that are the most frequent industrial laundering subjected. Graphic: Illustration of fabric sample inside a washing test machine.
We measure the GSM (grams per square meter) and the thickness in order to confirm that each batch meets the product specification requirements for durability and comfort.

Industrial workwear requires fabrics that are resistant to tearing. Our tensile strength test is aimed at checking the resistance to rips and wear of the stress caused by the daily use of the material.

We perform shade banding tests to ensure that the color of the garments remains uniform. After several washes, special checks are carried out to make sure that FR dyes are still strong.

Each batch of FR fabric is inspected for conformity with NFPA 2112, ISO 11612 as well as other flame-resistance standards. We mimic flash fire and radiant heat situations.

Our “Certified Quality” badge is only awarded to fabrics that have passed all of our tests and which then proceed to garment production.
